An Evening with Michael Douglas 30th October 2016
EJB Events organises glittering, star-studded affairs. But behind the scenes, what happens when it all starts to go horribly wrong?
Dame Emma-Jane Brown is an A-Lister promoter and event planner extraordinaire. Recently included in Empire Publishing’s list of the 150 Most Outstanding Women in the World, she has built an impressive portfolio of Hollywood events. To add to her already striking roster, Emma-Jane Brown is laying on another of her incredible events on 30th October as she presents An Evening with Michael Douglas.
The former international show jumper was voted Event Planner of the Year, 2016 by Worldwide Branding and has attracted a whole host of luminaries from across the pond, including Charlie Sheen, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sly Stallone and Al Pacino.
Each of Emma’s events follow the same formula, VVIP events allowing members of the public to get up close and personal with their Hollywood idols. Through her company, EJB Events, Emma has cornered the market in organising once in a life time, A-Lister celebrity events and in the process has become one of the world’s most influential business women.

However, don’t be fooled that the world of event planning is all champagne and parties, here Emma tells us more about her role as one of the few successful female promoters in the UK.
“While organising A-Lister events can be one of the most rewarding jobs, it comes with its fair share of scrapes and shattered nerves. Alongside the glamour and the excitement of rubbing shoulders with top sporting professionals, rock stars, Hollywood royalty – and even royalty – comes an inbuilt danger. What happens when it all starts to go wrong? As it often does!
How do I explain to Al Pacino that I’m in his hotel room because I’ve lost my shoes? (I fess up that they were lost on the private plane I chartered for him and he helps me look for them)!
How do I deal with the wife of a legendary rock ‘n’ roller when she stops her exhausted husband from attending a gala awards ceremony ? (I beg his famous lead guitarist to stand in for him)!
And how is it that, despite having sat in a hotel foyer until 3.30am waiting for Charlie Sheen to turn up, that I find myself running, in high heels, as fast as I can to make it to the show on time? (I’ve no idea – it’s the nature of my life)!

From the point at which a contract is signed to the moment when the curtain finally comes down and the reviews are in, my stress levels are on a constant high. I’ve been running on pure adrenalin for four or five months!
It’s not just the large sums of money that are at stake, it’s working through the negotiations with agents and managers, it’s making sure that the venue and hotels are ready, that the ticket agencies and media campaigns are on track and that sponsors are being looked after. And all of that is before I even have to start dealing with the celebrity guests, some of whom can be …well, a little bit demanding!
However, despite all the trials and tribulations, these days, my VVIP entertainment packages have gained a great reputation, so much so that it’s those same stars’ managers who are approaching me to talk business. And while I know that it’s not always going to be an easy ride, I’m more than happy to take on the challenge!
